Beltaine
The Great Fertility Rite of Life.
This traditionally starts at dusk on the 30th and ends at dawn on the 1st The God and Goddess come together on this day and conceive the Sun Child This is considered by many Pagans as their favourite festival. This is where the May Pole dance comes from (the pole being the phallic symbol and the ribbons, the fertile womb of the Goddess). Bonfires are lit and leapt over to bless a relationship or bring fertility. Livestock were, historically, driven between fires to ask for protection. This festival is dedicated to all Gods and Goddesses who preside over Fertility
